Data Scientist - Glasgow

We are looking to expand our Data Science team with a motivated Data Scientist, for a Q3/Q4 2019 start. We offer candidates the ability to develop models which can truly revolutionise an industry, enabling them to have a lasting impact on chemistry in the digital age.
The role entails ingesting data taken from our proprietary in-beaker hardware devices and developing models which will have tangible benefits to chemists in laboratories across the world. This covers not only deployment of your algorithms to the front-facing user, but also high-level modelling of chemical reactions and developing an understanding of what makes some reactions succeed and some fail.
You will have a good understanding of your field, and are expected to continue to develop your skillset through research, application and reading, and bring this knowledge to the company. You will prepare data, develop models on it and then robustly evaluate the outcomes before deployment, with continuous refinement once it is in user’s hands.
We are a close-knit company, and cross-departmental collaboration is common, meaning you will build a knowledge of the wider business and associated technologies out with the Data Science team. Key Skills & Experience
1:1 or 2:1 in Computing or Engineering related discipline, or relevant industry experience
Excellent, demonstrable understanding of AI, machine learning and statistics
Strong Python skills (pandas, numpy, sklearn, Jupyter notebooks etc.)
A general capability to work with data of all forms (textual, tabular, SQL, NoSQL, JSON etc.)
An ability to determine which algorithms and techniques are appropriate for a given problem (not every problem requires a deep neural net!)
Able to work with and clean real-world datasets which may contain noisy signals
Knowledge of time-series processing, in a multivariate context
Good communication skills and ability to work with other teams to achieve tangible outcomes
Java or similar, and the associated build-deploy lifecycle
Exposure to computer vision and audio processing techniques (Fourier transforms, wavelets etc.)
Experience with modern NLP techniques (GPT, BERT) and associated frameworks is advantageous (SpaCy, PyTorch etc.)
Knowledge of general deep learning is useful but not required (CNNs, GANs, LSTMs)
Git or other version control software
Use of Linux and Google Cloud Platform
Basic knowledge of chemistry and associated concepts
